Solitomb - 1.01 patch


Just uploaded a small 1.01 patch for Solitomb!

This patch fixes a single crash bug found in the days after the release. To be perfectly honest with you, I expected way more things to go wrong - releasing a game means that you suddenly go from a bunch of playtesters to a couple thousands, and things break. Working in PICO-8 also has its own pitfalls - as you compress things to fit into PICO-8's harsh limits, you usually have to commit at least a few sins against sound software engineering practices.

So, I'm actually surprised at how smooth this release is going, bug-wise! 

If you encountered this ugly bad boy of a screen at any point during gameplay (usually when using Riposte, Find Weakness or playing against Dread Knights), sorry! This should no longer happen :)

Writing here to preserve the vibe of the comment thread. There is this minor softlock when you destroy a wraiths corpse without the wraith itself.

It's fine to report problems in the comments :)

The wraith thing is a little complicated. Technically, it's working as designed, and the point of the encounter is that you have to manage your use of the haunted remains. You can even use one remains card to take care of multiple wraiths, leaving you with free "burn cards" you can use to manage the demon clock.

But! I do agree it's one of the most stark situations where the game should at least notice you're out of options and *tell you*, since it feels like a lock now (despite this being the result of your decisions during play). There is unfortunately no room to implement this in the PICO-8 version, but I'll take a look at other solutions that make this clearer.

Oh I didn't realize the one corpse multiple wraith's situation. In that case this becomes more managable and fun. Thanks
